Spring 2021 Capstone Project

This ambisonic project offers a method for immersive audio interaction in a 3D environment.

The user's movement is tracked using a Kinect sensor, whilst at the same time their rotation is tracked by compass data from the iPhone they are holding. The user can then populate the 3D space by placing down sound sources using an app, ranging from sine tones, audio samples, or a more interactive drum step sequencer. The user also has the option to automatically populating the space by selecting a preset of either a forest, city, or desert environment.

Through the use of ICST's ambisonic tools, the user can navigate around these audio sources, resulting in an immersive auditory experience.
